Industry and audience power essay

Essay question: “The internet has given audiences much more power than ever before.” To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Word count: 500-800 words

Introduction:

I agree with this statement that the internet has given audiences more power than they’ve ever had. The internet allows consumers to engage directly with the media more than ever before. The internet has provided a platform where consumers can give their opinions and decide the success or failure of media products, such as TV shows, films and music.

Music industry:

The music industry has changed drastically since the rise of the internet. With the use of the internet audiences can access music immediately on the devices. Now millions of songs are available to people around the world on the internet. Furthermore, platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal allow people to listen to music whenever they want, wherever they are. Therefore, the internet has made consumers’ access to music much easier and more convenient. The internet has inspiring people to make bands such as rock&roll, Jazz, bedroom bands, marching bands and metal bands.

Film and TV Industry:

The creation of the internet has also changed how TV shows and films are now enjoyed by consumers. With internet people can now stream and watch shows on demand whereas before they were only watched on the TV. Also, apps like Netflix and NowTV allow billions of people to watch thousands of different shows and films with just the tap of a screen. In 1888 films were recorded from traditional cameras and old phone cameras and ect.

Newspaper Industry:

In the early 17 hundreds people used to read newspapers so then people knows what is going on around the world but now since 2015 people started reading the news online and researching about that kind of news and what is means. Citizen Journalism is the collection, dissemination, and analysis of news and information by the general public, especially by means of the Internet and its given more power to the audience to report the news by recording the evidence and sending it to the news reporters. Fake news is when people make a click bated news on a program and creating a fake news site and people easily fall for it which makes it bad for people when they are excited to see new news about the world, environment and their society. There are no problems or concerns about Citizen journalism because they take care of who is creating fake news and fake news sites.

Conclusion:

I have answered all of the questions of the best of my ability and made a clear conclusion and I have demonstrated everything about why the internet is more powerful because of how its changed over the years of the internet’s release to the public and access to the internet.
