Advertising key conventions

1) What key conventions of an advert can you find and what are the connotations of each one?

I can see the conventions of slogan, central image, backround and logo of coca cola.

2) For each convention, write about how this appeals to a target audience. 

The slogan 'The original taste of christmas' and 'Taste the Feeling' it appeals to the target audience who likes the original taste of the coca cola drink.

The logo coca cola appeals to the target audience who likes sans-serif typography style.

3) What is the USP (unique selling point) of the product and how do you know?

USP of the product coca cola is taste testing and i know this because we can clearly see in this advert that santa claus is drinking the cola.

Introduction - Tatler Media pack

1) Look at the Tatler Media Pack. Go to page 2: how does the editor introduce the magazine?


The editor introduces the magazine by targeting the richest people in the country who love to shop.


2) Now go to page 4 of the Media Pack. Focus on the print magazine (NOT tatler.com - the website). List the key demographic details: age, gender %, ABC1 % (social class), HHI (Household Income), % of those living in London and the South East. What do these demographic details suggest about the average Tatler reader?

it suggests that hey have lots of wealth in their lives.


3) Are there any stereotypes being reinforced or subverted? How? Why?


The stereotype of a powerful blond caucasian women is reinforced in the picture of Georgina Bevan.

4) What would be the preferred and oppositional readings to this cover of Tatler?


The preferred and oppositional reading of the Tatler magazine would be the rich people deny that this is a magazine for the upper class.

Social and cultural context

1) What aspects of British life or people are NOT reflected in Tatler? (Watch the clip above again if you need help with this - the clue is in the title 'Posh People')


the aspects of British life is that they like to buy jewlery to make them selfs look more fashionable in their daily lifes.
2) Tatler runs special issues on holidays, spa breaks, cosmetic surgery, watches and jewellery and private schools. What does this suggest about the magazine's representation of life in Britain?


it represents in the life of Britain by helping them in their lifes to make it easier for them.
3) What audience groups might be offended or insulted by the front cover of Tatler April 2017? 

the lower working class because the Tatler front cover shows nice makeup, fancy clothes and ect.
4) Find three other front covers for Tatler. What issues or problems are regularly featured in Tatler?

they make the working class jealous of what their wearing and what they have.
